The Spanish Empire had a major influence on the cuisine of Spain. They were able to spread their culture and ingredients throughout Europe with their conquest and colonization. This includes tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, chocolate, vanilla beans, corn, cinnamon sticks and oregano among others.

Consequently Spanish food has been influenced by many cultures such as Arabic culture which introduced spices such as cumin and coriander to Spanish food; African culture which introduced ingredients like black-eyed peas or okra; and Mediterranean culture which introduced ingredients like garlic or olives.

What is a Spanish Restaurant?

Spanish restaurants are restaurants that serve spanish food. They are famous for their tapas, paellas and other dishes.

Testimonial

“Had the vegetarian paella. Authentic, but wished it was slightly more charred on the bottom. Also, the vegetables used could be improved, instead of just long beans red capsicum and too much rosemary. Those I had in valencia had artichoke and other good stuff. Bear in mind the wait might be around 45min. And even though it says for 2, it by itself is not enough to fill 2 people, you should order at least 1 or 2 tapas more.”

Testimonial

“This is a nice place to grab some tapas and other Spanish food by the beach. The dishes are generally pretty good and the atmosphere is laidback and relaxed with lovely views of the ocean. Testimonial

“What a steal in the heart of Orchard! A good variety of dishes. But do go with their lunch set that is so worth for money! You will be more surprised when you have the food. My beetroot salad with smoked sardines was so refreshing. My partner enjoyed his cheese platter and can’t stopped saying it was so valued for money. My braised beef cheek was so tender that it just melted in my mouth. His lamb dish was nicely cooked, comparable to a steak dish! We ended our lunch high with wine and sugar – of cos in a good way. We had poached pear and churros. Again, they were also nicely done with perfect sweetness. Thanks to the kind staff for being attentive too!”

It is famous for three things and that include super delectable cuisines, a bunch of very welcoming and friendly staff, and their family-friendly ambiance. The good news is they were able to maintain that over the years.

One of their highly recommended dishes are the Spanish ham, Manchego cheese, one-of-a-kind Catalonia Romero and their signature dish, the Grilled Octopus Leg with Red Pepper.

A selection of quality Spanish wines to complement a Spanish meal, they recommend their own “Bodegas La Finca de San Pedro” range, especially its Rias Baixas reds.

Testimonial

“We wanted to eat good Spanish tapas and heard of My little Spanish place long ago. Just didn’t make time to go down town. Last weekend we finally did and enjoyed our evening very much despite the rain. All the staff was super hardworking and efficient. The food was amazing and we left feeling satisfied with our choices Will definately be back with out kids to try out more varieties as everything sounds so delicious. We felt the portion was nice for 2 without over indulging. Was a little disappointed with the burnt cheesecake for it’s tiny slice and not exactly as described in the menu. But overall we aee happy at the end of our meal and Kudos to the Boat Quay team.”

Testimonial

“This was my forth visit to the restaurant. I must say this outlet’s service is so much better than its neighbor. All dishes that we ordered were in great seasoning and doneness. The grilled octopus was the best octopus that I had so far so tender and tasty. It is a great place for chill out, celebration, gathering, etc. The only flaw that I would say is the chicken in paella had some frozen taste but the sausage had compliment the overall paella 🥘. Tapas were also great in portioning.”

Testimonial

“Tried Catalonian food for the first time at Gaig and it was outstanding. My photos really don’t do them justice, but the cold tomato soup with jamon ice cream and fideua with carabinero prawns were excellent. I especially loved the fideua. We also tried the stuffed pigeon, cannelloni, txangurro, crispy bread, and Catalonian creme brulee. They were all fantastic. The sangrias were also really delicious (both red and white). Beyond the food, the service and setting were also excellent, homey, and unpretentious. This will definitely be one of our go-to places for a special occasion.”

“Kulto keeps delivering amazing food with a great ambiance. I was there with my gf to celebrate anticipated Valentine’s and we had a superb time. Good was spot on and service was also fantastic. We ordered the seafood paella which was big enough for two. We also had some tapas and the whisky cake with almonds. The paella takes the spotlight because yeas so good, but the tapas were first class. We accompanied the food with a couple of glasses from the by-the-glass wine selection, and they were really good at a very reasonable price. All in all, it cost me about 160 dollars all inclusive, which I think for they quality of food and service, is very good.”

Testimonial

“Been here quite a few times – before Covid, during Covid; and this time after most Covid restrictions had lifted. What is special this time is that they have a new menu (starting Friday 13th) May 2022. We had the lamb meatballs with hummus, grilled Argentinian beef striploin – all go so perfectly with the chosen Spanish Crianza. If I can make a small request which is to have a serving of bread could be great! Looking at the Jewel waterfall (world tallest for an indoor one btw) and the constant stream of people and some with luggage, it really brings back a sense of normalcy.”

Don Quijote is one of the go-to restaurant for brunch. They offer an amazing array of tapas, salads, pasta and other authentic Spanish dishes. It’s a great place to enjoy a quick bite during the weekend or during an evening out with friends.

Testimonial

“TL;DR Prices are restaurant level for a kopitiam, but food is as classy as a restaurant. Surprisingly biggest disappointment was the paella. Our Valencian Paella (seafood and chicken) was dry, had a crusty top and the seafood was over cooked. Our side dishes were very tasty though and the meat orders looked very good. Would go back to try again.”
