Singapore's ERP rates changed on 7 September 2026, and the picture they leave is narrower than most drivers assume. LTA's rate table covers 35 weekday gantry groups, and only 16 of them charge anything at all this quarter. The other 19 are $0.00 at every hour of every day.
The most expensive crossing in the country is $6.00, on the KPE southbound after Defu Flyover (gantry 50) between 08:35 and 08:55 on a weekday. Every figure here is read from LTA's own rate table, effective 7 September 2026.
The four things that decide what you pay
- Which gantry. Only 16 gantry groups are priced. The rest are $0.00 all day.
- What time you cross it. Rates move in five-minute and twenty-minute steps, and a single gantry can swing from $0.50 to $6.00 inside two hours.
- What you drive. A motorcycle pays half the car rate, a big bus pays double.
- What day it is. Charging runs on weekdays only. Not one Saturday slot carries a charge in the current table, and there is no ERP on Sundays or public holidays.
When does ERP operate?
Weekdays, roughly 7am to 8pm, and only at the gantries listed below. The earliest charge in the current table starts at 07:00 and the latest ends at 20:00.
- Sundays and public holidays: no ERP charges at all.
- Eve of a major public holiday: ERP stops operating at 1pm.
- Saturdays: the rate table has a Saturday column, and every cell in it is currently blank.
One detail in LTA's own note is worth reading carefully, because it decides whether you catch the cheaper rate: a period written as 07:30 to 08:00 means from and including 7.30am, up to but excluding 8.00am. Crossing at 07:59 pays the earlier rate.
The morning peak is where the money is
The single costliest stretch of the week is 08:35 - 08:55, when 10 gantries are charging at once and a driver crossing all of them would pay $37.00. 12 of the 16 charging gantry groups run in the morning; 4 run in the evening.
The ramp at the priciest gantry shows how sharp the curve is. This is KPE southbound after Defu Flyover, gantry 50, on a weekday.

What a motorcycle, lorry or bus pays
The table above is the base rate, set for a car. Every other vehicle is a multiple of it, so the $6.00 peak is $3.00 on a motorcycle and $12.00 on a big bus.
| Vehicle type | Charge | At the $6.00 gantry |
|---|---|---|
| Motorcycles | Base rate × 0.5 | $3.00 |
| Passenger cars, light goods vehicles, taxis | Base rate | $6.00 |
| Heavy goods vehicles, small buses | Base rate × 1.5 | $9.00 |
| Very heavy goods vehicles, big buses | Base rate × 2.0 | $12.00 |
What changed on 7 September 2026
One change, and it lands on the shopping belt. The Orchard Cordon went from $0.00 to $1.00 on weekdays between 11am and 7pm, covering eleven gantry locations: Buyong Road, Cairnhill Road, Clemenceau Avenue, Killiney Road, Kramat Road, Orchard Link, Orchard Road, Orchard Turn, Oxley Road, the YMCA gantry and Fort Canning Tunnel.
LTA's reason was that congestion had persisted and traffic speeds had stayed below optimal levels since October 2025. Rates at every other gantry and timeslot were left alone.
Rates are reviewed every quarter and adjusted during the June and December school holidays, when traffic drops and the picture is clearest.
Missing an ERP payment
Since 1 October 2024 a missed charge triggers an SMS rather than a bill. From the date that message is sent there is a five-day grace period, and paying inside it means no $10 administrative charge. Miss the grace period and a physical notice follows, with the ERP charge plus the $10 on top.
The SMS goes to the mobile number registered on Singpass, so an out-of-date number is the usual reason people find out by letter instead.
ERP 2.0 and the end of the In-vehicle Unit
The gantry-based system is being replaced by satellite-based ERP 2.0, and the On-Board Unit has been going into Singapore-registered vehicles since November 2023. The In-vehicle Unit is being phased out by the end of 2026.
After that, a foreign-registered vehicle entering without an On-Board Unit pays a flat fee for every ERP operational day it is on Singapore roads: $3 for a motorcycle and $10 for everything else. Foreign-registered vehicles have been able to install the unit since 1 April 2026.
ERP rates and timings: quick questions
What time does ERP start and end?
The earliest charge in the current schedule begins at 07:00 and the last ends at 20:00, weekdays only. Individual gantries charge for far shorter windows than that, and most of the island's gantries charge nothing at any hour.
Is there ERP on Saturdays?
Not at present. The rate table keeps a Saturday column and every cell in it is blank in the schedule effective 7 September 2026. There is no ERP on Sundays or public holidays either, and it stops at 1pm on the eve of a major public holiday.
What is the most expensive ERP gantry in Singapore?
KPE southbound after Defu Flyover, gantry 50, at $6.00 for a car between 08:35 and 08:55 on weekdays. A big bus pays $12.00 at the same moment.
How much is ERP for a motorcycle?
Half the car rate at the same gantry and time, so the highest motorcycle charge anywhere is currently $3.00. Heavy goods vehicles and small buses pay one and a half times the car rate, and very heavy goods vehicles and big buses pay double.
How often do ERP rates change?
Quarterly. LTA reviews them every quarter and makes the adjustments during the June and December school holidays. The current table took effect on 7 September 2026.
What happens if I drive through a gantry without paying?
An SMS arrives after the violation, and there are five days from the date it is sent to pay the charge with no administrative fee. After that a notice arrives by post and the $10 administrative charge applies on top of the ERP charge.
Does crossing at 07:59 count as the 07:30 rate?
Yes. A period written 07:30 to 08:00 runs from and including 7.30am up to but excluding 8.00am, so 07:59 pays the earlier rate and 08:00 pays the next one.
Where do these figures come from?
LTA's published base ERP rate table for passenger cars, taxis and light goods vehicles, effective 7 September 2026, read on 9 September 2026. The vehicle multipliers and the operating rules come from the same source.
Parking is the other half of the bill. Our HDB parking rates guide covers short-term charges and season parking, parking rates by mall covers the rest, and the cost of owning a car puts both in context.
