Badminton Court Booking in Singapore: Every Rate, and Why the Same Hour Costs $3.50 or $32 (2026)

An hour of badminton in Singapore costs anywhere from $3.50 to $32 depending on where you book it, who you are, and what time you play, for the same eight metres of court. The gap isn’t about quality. It’s about which of six separate booking systems you happen to be using, and whether your slot falls inside that operator’s peak window, which is not the same window everywhere. Below are the current published rates for every operator, what each works out to per player, and the quirks that catch people out. All rates were read from each operator’s own rate card on 3 September 2026.

SC/PR means Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, who pay a lower rate at both ActiveSG and OCBC Arena on production of photo ID. Everyone else pays the standard rate.

How much does a badminton court cost in Singapore?

The floor is $3.50 an hour, at an ActiveSG sport hall, off-peak, as a citizen or PR. The ceiling is $32 an hour, for a doubles court at Smash Arena at peak. That’s a 9.1× spread for the same activity.

Four things move a booking along that scale, in order of how much they cost:

• Public or private operator is the biggest single jump. The public halls top out at $13 an hour; the private ones start above that.
• Peak or non-peak roughly doubles the price everywhere, at every operator, without exception.
• Sport hall or school hall. ActiveSG’s 117 school halls are only released at peak hours, so there’s no cheap rate to be had at one. A school hall is always $7.40, never $3.50.
• Citizen or standard rate. Worth $1.10 an hour off-peak and $2.30 at peak at ActiveSG, and $1.50 to $5.00 at OCBC Arena.

Community clubs sit outside this tidy structure. Each CC sets its own rate, so there’s no single published figure, and the range across clubs is wide. Braddell Heights was reported in March 2026 as the most expensive CC court on the island at $15 non-peak and $25 peak, which would place it above every public operator here.

What it works out to per player

Court rates are quoted per hour, but nobody plays alone. For a standard doubles game of four, at peak:

Per player the spread narrows to about 4.3×, and the private courts look less punishing than the hourly figure suggests. Smash Arena’s doubles courts take up to eight, so a group that fills one pays $4.00 a head rather than $8.00, which lands it between the two SAFRA tiers.

Peak hours, and why they’re not the same everywhere

ActiveSG and OCBC Arena share a definition, which makes those two directly comparable:

• Peak: Mondays to Fridays, 6pm to 10pm. Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, 7am to 10pm.
• Non-peak: weekdays 7am to 6pm, excluding public holidays.

Smash Arena runs to a different clock: peak starts at 5pm on weekdays rather than 6pm, and runs to 2am, with the whole weekend peak from 8am. A 5.30pm booking is off-peak at a public hall and peak at Smash Arena, which is the kind of hour-boundary difference that shows up on the bill rather than in the listing.

The pattern across all of them is that the cheap rate only exists during office hours on a working day. Every slot most people actually want, a weekday evening or any time at the weekend, is a peak slot at every operator on this page.

ActiveSG also offers concessionary rates to senior citizens playing with immediate family, during weekday non-peak hours only.

Where can I book a badminton court in Singapore?

Six systems, and they don’t talk to each other. A court that’s full on one may sit empty on another.

1. ActiveSG — 137 venues, and the cheapest rate on the island

By far the largest pool, and the cheapest. The catch is the split: only 17 are sport halls, the purpose-built venues that release courts at both peak and non-peak. The other 117 are school halls, opened to the public at peak hours only, plus Bishan Clubhouse and Eunoia Junior College Hall. Bookings are capped at two slots per user per day, whatever the timing.

2. SAFRA — three clubhouses, three different price lists

Mount Faber, Tampines and Toa Payoh have indoor courts. Online booking is a members-only function and new slots are released daily at 7am. Tampines is the one clubhouse that publishes a guest rate, at $4.70 off-peak.

The rates aren’t uniform across the three, which is the part most guides miss. Mount Faber and Tampines charge members $3.90 off-peak and $7.40 at peak. Toa Payoh charges $7.00 and $12.00 for the same booking, close to double, and above what ActiveSG charges a non-citizen at peak.

3. OCBC Arena — Kallang, and the booking windows nobody mentions

At 5 Stadium Drive, and the most expensive of the public options at $13 an hour peak on the standard rate. The more important detail is that the public can’t book most of the day. Courts are released to public booking only during set windows: weekdays 7am to 8am, noon to 2pm and 8pm to 10pm; Saturdays noon to 2pm and 5pm to 10pm; Sundays 7am to 10pm. The rest of the timetable goes to schools and teams. Payment is by Visa, Mastercard, PayNow or NETS only.

4. Smash Arena — Jurong, and the only courts open past midnight

At 511 Upper Jurong Road, inside D’Arena Country Club, with nine doubles courts and one super-single court on Gerflor Taraflex flooring. It’s the priciest per hour and also the only one here that runs until 2am, which is most of its appeal: it’s the option that exists after every public hall has shut at 10pm. New slots are released at 10pm daily.

5. Community clubs — through OnePA, priced club by club

Every CC with a hall sets its own rate and its own release schedule, which is why no single figure appears in the table above. It’s worth checking the specific CC rather than assuming a CC court is the budget option, because several are priced above the ActiveSG sport halls.

6. Singapore Badminton Hall — four sites, no published rates

SBH runs courts at 1 Lorong 23 Geylang (SBH @ Sims and SFH @ Sims), at Singapore Expo Carpark J (SBH East Coast), and at Expo Hall 7 (TSA). Bookings go through Playtomic, and no rate card is published on their own site: the price appears at the point of booking. Their terms state that bookings are strictly non-refundable, non-transferable and non-amendable, which is stricter than any of the public operators.

When do bookings open?

Release times matter more than rates for anyone chasing a weekday evening slot, because the cheap courts go within minutes of opening.

• SAFRA — new slots daily at 7am, members only.
• Smash Arena — new slots daily at 10pm.
• ActiveSG — its own schedule, with a two-slot-per-user-per-day cap.
• Community clubs — set individually by each CC.

The four things that quietly change the price

• A school hall is never cheap. 117 of ActiveSG’s 137 badminton venues are school halls, and they only open at peak. Someone booking “an ActiveSG court” at $3.50 is picking from 17 venues, not 137.
• SAFRA Toa Payoh isn’t priced like the other two. At $12 peak it costs a member more than an ActiveSG sport hall charges a non-citizen, and nearly double what the same membership pays at Mount Faber or Tampines.
• OCBC Arena’s cheap-looking hours often aren’t bookable. The $5 non-peak rate applies to weekday daytime, but public booking there is limited to a 7am–8am and noon–2pm window, so most of the non-peak period isn’t open to the public at all.
• Peak starts at 5pm at Smash Arena. An hour earlier than the public halls, so a booking that reads as off-peak elsewhere is charged at $32 there.
