ERP Timing Singapore: When the Gantries Charge, When They're Free, and What Each Vehicle Pays (2026)

ERP charges nothing on Sundays and public holidays. On the days it does run, the rate is set in five-minute bands rather than by the hour, and what you pay depends as much on your vehicle class as on the gantry. Everything below comes from the Land Transport Authority’s own base rate table, the edition effective 7 September 2026, read that day.

LTA publishes a weekday column and a Saturday column for the same gantry, and they don’t match: a gantry can charge on a weekday and nothing on a Saturday. The Orchard Cordon is the current example — weekday charging resumed on 7 September 2026 while Saturdays stayed suspended.

The bands are five minutes, not half an hour

The rate table runs in five-minute and twenty-minute steps from 07:00 — 07:00–07:05, 07:05–07:25, 07:25–07:30, 07:30–07:35 and so on. Rates step up into a peak and back down out of it, so two cars a few minutes apart at the same gantry can pay different amounts.

LTA states the convention precisely, and it matters at the boundary: a period written 07:30–08:00 means the rate applies from and including 7:30am, and until but excluding 8:00am. Crossing at exactly 8:00am puts you in the next band, not the one you just read.

What each vehicle class pays

Every published rate is a base rate, quoted for one passenger car unit. Other vehicles are a multiple of it:

So a $2.00 gantry is $1.00 on a motorcycle and $4.00 in a big bus. The car rate is the one every published figure refers to unless it says otherwise, which is why a quoted ERP price is only half the answer for a rider and half again for a lorry.

The CBD gantries, by number

Gantry numbers appear on the rate tables rather than the road signs, and the tables group them into zones that price together. These are the three central groups as listed by LTA.

Beyond the centre, the same table prices the arterial roads and expressways — the AYE, BKE, CTE, ECP, KPE, MCE and PIE, plus arterial gantries at Upper Boon Keng, Dunearn, Geylang, Kallang Bahru, Bendemeer, Thomson, Toa Payoh and Upper Bukit Timah. Why a rate you read last month may be wrong

LTA reviews ERP rates quarterly, and adjusts again during the June and December school holidays when traffic thins. That is up to six changes a year at any given gantry, which is why the useful thing about a published rate is the date attached to it. The current base table is the one effective 7 September 2026.

ERP timing: quick questions

Is ERP free on Sundays?

Yes. ERP charges nothing on Sundays or public holidays. Weekdays and Saturdays are charged, on separate rate columns that don't necessarily match.

What time does ERP start in the morning?

The rate table begins at 07:00, and the first bands are often free before rates step up into the morning peak. The exact start of charging differs by gantry, because each one prices its own stretch of road.

How long is an ERP time band?

Five minutes at the edges of a peak and twenty minutes through the middle of one — 07:00–07:05, then 07:05–07:25, then 07:25–07:30, and so on. A band written 07:30–08:00 applies from and including 7:30am until but excluding 8:00am.

How much is ERP for a motorcycle?

Half the published rate. Every figure LTA publishes is the base rate for one passenger car unit; motorcycles are charged at 0.5 times that, heavy goods vehicles and small buses at 1.5, and very heavy goods vehicles and big buses at 2.0.

Do ERP rates change during school holidays?

Yes. On top of the quarterly review, LTA adjusts rates during the June and December school holidays, when traffic is lighter. Between the two, a gantry's rate can move up to six times a year.

What are the ERP gantry numbers in Orchard?

Nine gantries make up the Orchard group: 4 Orchard Link, 12 Oxley Road, 13 Orchard Road, 14 Orchard Turn, 15 Killiney Road, 21 Buyong Road, 22 Kramat Road, 26 Clemenceau Avenue and 27 Cairnhill Road. Why did I pay a different amount at the same gantry?

Either the time or the vehicle. Rates step in five-minute bands, so a few minutes changes the price, and the published figure is the car rate — a rider pays half of it and a lorry one and a half or two times it.
