Best High Tea Places in Singapore

High Tea Singapore

High tea is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. You can sip on tea and pastries as you take in the sights and sounds of the city.

For anyone who loves high tea, there are many reasons to go out for high tea. It's a delightful experience that provides an opportunity to enjoy the company of friends, family, or co-workers while indulging in delicious food and drink.

You'll find many fine establishments all over Singapore that offer the perfect ambiance for enjoying this time-honored tradition. If you are looking for the perfect place to have a high tea in Singapore, this article is for you.

What is High Tea in Singapore?

High Tea, also known as Afternoon Tea, is an English tradition that allows you to enjoy different types of tea. The most traditional High Tea would be held in the afternoon with no food or drink. A special setting called "High Tea set" or "Afternoon Tea set" will be offered in many hotels' restaurants. There are also dedicated tea houses that serve high tea.

What is the difference between Afternoon Tea and High Tea?

High Tea and Afternoon Tea are often used interchangeably, but there is a slight difference. Afternoon Tea is usually less than High Tea, which includes a wider variety of savoury and sweet dishes, as well as more tea. It is also usually served at a set time in the afternoon.

This is one of those meals where you don’t realize how much you are enjoying it until it is over.

The food here is simply spectacular. The service is excellent too. SKAI literally has something for everyone, and everything is done with a smile and a “welcome to Singapore” attitude. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet comfortable, and there’s something for everyone – whether you are looking for a romantic dinner for two, or a fun night out with your friends.

My favorite part of the high tea was the drinks. It is served in a beautiful warm teapoyah where you can sip on hot or cold Japanese green tea, or you can go all the way and order the speciality “Suzuki Coffee”. It is made with 100% Arabica beans from Sumatra and is flavoured with cinnamon and star anise.

You can also order a simple cup of coffee or a “cappuccino” (it is like espresso but made with milk instead of water), or you can order something stronger like a “mocha” or “raspberry cappuccino”. I would highly recommend the latter two if you are dining with a group of friends.

This is one of those restaurants where it is hard to leave room for dessert. But trust me, you need to try the macarons! They are light, airy, melt-in-your-mouth chewy cookies that have a slight hint of almond flavor. You can choose from several fillings - from classic vanilla to pistachio and red bean.

SKAI is a great place to take someone who has everything, and nothing at all to eat. It is a place where even the pickiest of eaters will find something they will love. It is an adult treat that the whole family will enjoy.

Customers Reviews

"This restaurant is at the highest level. The ambience was great. As it is at very high floor, the view is awesome and beatiful, you can see the view from difference angles, you can choose the tables/seats either face the city view or the sea view. I can take awesome and beautiful photos through the restaurant's window. The food was good as well."

"Truly Asia’s Best Bar! Was even more surprised by the good quality food. Service staff were friendly & professional. Not only will you get an awesome ambience & vibe, the mood lighting also complimented the place very well. Had such a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner here. It’s been a long while since the server knew exactly who ordered which main course & served all 4 of us correctly without asking us “who is having what”. The server wasn’t even the one who took our food order. We really appreciated the excellence service standards even some Michelin star restaurants fail to deliver. Bravo to all the front & kitchen staff. Well Done!"

Customers Reviews

"Awesome happy hour prices for drinks at a hotel lounge. Really pleasant ambience, and excellent service. Martinis at $12, wines from $7.50 a glass, and gin cocktails from under $10. Definitely a good place to have a few pre-dinner drinks. However, the food options could use some improvement. Yes, it's a lounge/bar, and a limited food menu is understandable, but the options really weren't pleasing at all. With that said, I'll definitely be going back, just not for the food. They don't take reservations for evening happy hour, so it's a good idea to head over earlier."

Strait Place 1819 is a cafe with an antique kopitiam atmosphere, and it is located in VivoCity. The modest reto setting may make you believe that Strait Place 1819 serves traditional kaya toast and coffee, but it's not.

The restaurant's interior is a continuation of an earlier era. It is hidden behind a vintage aesthetic that will appeal to old-schoolers and slackers alike. The High Tea Set from Strait Place 1819 is one of Singapore's cheapest high teas.

Expect a three-tiered dessert stand with local specialties like Hainanese Par-tee and Otah Sandwich, as well as excellent English tea snacks. The variety of sweets included in this high tea set is astounding.

One-of-a-kind desserts, including a strawberry bursting boba tarts, are the ideal treat for any bubble tea lover. The free flow special blend teas are good, but we recommend upgrading to the tea mocktails with one time refill for free.

The Summer Sky (jasmine green tea combined with pineapple and blue curacao) and Autumn Peach (ceylon black tea with peach and soda), are two of the drink's interesting tastes.

Customers Reviews

"Our dining experience is quite a bit fine, nothing extraordinary with the reasonable price, you got what you paid for. Had another a la carte orders and was dissappointed with bland fish and chips. The good thing is not so crowded and the place is a bit quiet thus gave us a time to have a nice conversation with family and friends while sipping on your coffee."
