High Tea Singapore

High tea is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. You can sip on tea and pastries as you take in the sights and sounds of the city.

There are a lot of reasons to drink high tea. While enjoying the company of friends, family, or co-workers, you can also indulge in delicious food and drink.

There are many fine establishments in Singapore that are perfect for enjoying this tradition. We aim to help you find the perfect place to have a afternoon high tea.

What is High Tea in Singapore?

High Tea, also known as Afternoon Tea, is an English tradition that allows you to enjoy different types of tea. The most traditional High Tea would be held in the afternoon with no food or drink.

A special setting called “High Tea set” or “Afternoon Tea set” will be offered in many hotels’ restaurants. There are also dedicated tea houses that serve high tea.

What Is The Difference Between Afternoon Tea And High Tea?

High Tea is often used interchangeably with Afternoon Tea, but there is a slight difference between them. In the afternoon, the less formal time that occurs during a working day, tea is usually served without the accompaniment of the elaborate, often multi-course set meals. Most restaurants serve it at a set time in the afternoon.

This is one of those meals where you don’t realize how much you are enjoying it until it is over.

The food here is simply spectacular. The service is excellent too. SKAI literally has something for everyone, and everything is done with a smile and a “welcome to Singapore” attitude. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet comfortable, and there’s something for everyone – whether you are looking for a romantic dinner for two, or a fun night out with your friends.

My favorite part of the high tea was the drinks. It is served in a beautiful warm teapoyah where you can sip on hot or cold Japanese green tea, or you can go all the way and order the speciality “Suzuki Coffee”. It is made with 100% Arabica beans from Sumatra and is flavoured with cinnamon and star anise.

You can also order a simple cup of coffee or a “cappuccino” (it is like espresso but made with milk instead of water), or you can order something stronger like a “mocha” or “raspberry cappuccino”. I would highly recommend the latter two if you are dining with a group of friends.

This is one of those restaurants where it is hard to leave room for dessert. But trust me, you need to try the macarons! They are light, airy, melt-in-your-mouth chewy cookies that have a slight hint of almond flavor. You can choose from several fillings – from classic vanilla to pistachio and red bean.

SKAI is a great place to take someone who has everything, and nothing at all to eat. It is a place where even the pickiest of eaters will find something they will love. It is an adult treat that the whole family will enjoy.

“Truly Asia’s Best Bar! Was even more surprised by the good quality food. Service staff were friendly & professional. Not only will you get an awesome ambience & vibe, the mood lighting also complimented the place very well. Had such a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner here. It’s been a long while since the server knew exactly who ordered which main course & served all 4 of us correctly without asking us “who is having what”. The server wasn’t even the one who took our food order. We really appreciated the excellence service standards even some Michelin star restaurants fail to deliver. Bravo to all the front & kitchen staff. Well Done!”

⭐ Customer Review

“Awesome happy hour prices for drinks at a hotel lounge. Really pleasant ambience, and excellent service. Martinis at $12, wines from $7.50 a glass, and gin cocktails from under $10. Definitely a good place to have a few pre-dinner drinks. However, the food options could use some improvement. Yes, it’s a lounge/bar, and a limited food menu is understandable, but the options really weren’t pleasing at all. With that said, I’ll definitely be going back, just not for the food. They don’t take reservations for evening happy hour, so it’s a good idea to head over earlier.”

We tried the traditional English Afternoon Tea, which included an assortment of breads, scones, sandwiches and pastries. The sandwiches were delicious, and we especially enjoyed the Cornish Cream Tea sandwich, which was a buttery delight. The scones were also very good, with a sweet, moist texture. We also really liked the selection of breads, with everything from sourdough to brioche.

The highlight of the afternoon tea experience was the chocolate cake. It was light, yet rich, and came in the shape of a flower. The flavor was divine, and it was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The service at the Tea Lounge was exceptional, as it was very professional and well-mannered. The staff took great care of us, and they made sure that our needs were met. They also provided a variety of iced beverages, and we had no problem ordering more than one beverage at a time.

Overall, we enjoyed the Tea Lounge and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Afternoon Tea. The quality of the food was excellent, and we loved the presentation. The service was superb, and we will happily go back there again in a heartbeat.

⭐ Customer Review

“Good selection of tea from the gryphon tea company. Had the festive high tea set and I enjoyed the savoury food as well as the quiche and the scones. I especially liked the spinach and cheese quiche. Scone here was good – served with clotted cream, butter and jam. I could not appreciate the sweets as much, but it was well presented and I liked that there were festive touches put to the high tea set. Service here is prompt when clearing the table and settling the bill.”
