Tan Tiong Hoe founded the coffee company Tiong Hoe & Co. in the 1960s after serving a short apprenticeship at Mirandolle & Voute, a Dutch company. In the beginning, he sold his coffee door to door, but as his business expanded, he began selling to restaurants, hotels, and even ship chandlers.

Although its primary business is selling freshly roasted coffee beans and coffee making supplies, the company provides a small area where you can sit and enjoy your coffee. It was intentionally made for people who take their coffee seriously or who want to discover more about the gems of their local coffee landscape.

The first time you visit this café, you’ll be captivated by it because of its distinctive design and industrial appeal. This is the right place for you if you enjoy filtered coffee. It is served using a pour-over method, and a filter is also an option.

Their coffee menu is minimalist, with a list of beverages that doesn’t include latte or cappuccino although you may ask for any of these from the baristas.

Choices include hot, iced, white and black coffees. The café offers seasonal single origin beans in addition to two varieties that are alternated around every two weeks.

They also serve some interesting meals at reasonable prices. Their delicious and reasonably priced chicken Benedict is highly recommended.

“One of my favourite brunches and coffee in SG! Food is very fresh, love the decor and covered outdoor area. And coffee is excellent as expected. Will be back!”

Quick service coffee shops offer fewer options than full-service cafes, but they have less seating space, faster service, and lower prices.

There are many factors that can determine the best coffee shop for your needs.
