Café Natsu is a brunch café on Clemenceau Avenue serving Western classics with a Japanese slant, with a second outlet in Orchard.
The kitchen is led by Chef Lewis Barker of the Michelin-starred Sommer, with Head Chef Paul Chua and Head Pastry Chef Ang Wei Chan running the Joo Chiat outlet and Head Chef Marcus Ow the Orchard team. The menu leans on Japanese ingredients: the mochi doughnuts come coated in Kurozato brown sugar with salted Hokkaido milk ice cream (listed at $12), and other dishes include the BBQ Shirobuta Don, the Onsen Tamago with shokupan, ikura and bonito, and the Shortrib Ragu Kare Casarecce. They also stock Japanese craft beers and Asahi.
Worth it for: a sit-down weekend brunch with a Japanese-European bent, rather than a quick kopi-and-toast stop.
Where: 182 Clemenceau Ave, Singapore 239923. Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 8:30am to 5:30pm; closed Monday. Book through SevenRooms or see the menu at cafenatsu.com.
